Mission & Vision
Pasadena Dance Theatre (PDT) is an integral part of the local arts community where our students and professionals explore, nurture, create and discover the blending of music and movement through both classical ballet and contemporary dance, culminating in innovative concerts and performances. PDT's mission is to advance the art of ballet and dance by fostering a respectful, welcoming environment where young people can train, perform, and gain life-long skills. Through professional performances and educational programs, we cultivate resilience, passion, determination, and expression in dancers and movers of all ages and backgrounds.

Pasadena Dance Theatre envisions a world where everyone, regardless of their background or life experience, has the opportunity to experience the joy and depth of dance. By building a strong, inclusive community and understanding failure as a pathway to growth, PDT aims to inspire a lifelong love of dance and to create a space where expression and creativity can flourish.
Core Values:
Cultivating artistry, expression, and joy
Building community
Encouraging determination
Creating resiliency
Developing respect
Inspiring passion
Embracing failure
Developing self-discipline and life-long skills
Honoring diversity, embodying inclusivity, and providing equality of opportunity are held principles within the pedagogy of our organization. As we experience and embrace the 21st century in an art form rooted in the 16th century, PDT is committed to expanding access to students from groups traditionally underrepresented in ballet. Anyone who holds the love of dance in their heart is welcomed and encouraged to see themselves as an essential component into ballet's future.

Alongside PDT's dedication to exceptional dance education, the organization is proud to house a professional company. Since its inception in 1996, the company has taken many forms, consistently delivering high caliber performances that engage both the mind and spirit. PDT commissions new works spanning classical, neo-classical, and contemporary ballet to post modern dance. PDT's Conservatory dancers are given the opportunity to perform as trainees with the company, thereby gaining real-world experience and broadening their understanding of dance. PDT is thrilled to reimagine its professional company under the new leadership of Artistic Directors Jean Michelle Sayeg and Eric Shah.
